A Guide to the Birdsong of Mexico, Central America & the Caribbean
‘A Guide to the Birdsong of Mexico, Central America & the Caribbean‘ is the second volume in the Birdsong project. This ten track compilation showcases the flourishing underground scenes from Havana to Guatemala, alongside some of the region’s incredible but threatened bird species.
100% of the profits from the album’s sales are donated to organisations working to protect species like these, with the album sales already raising over $25,000 USD for three NGOs in the region.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

Collaborating with local communities across the Caribbean
We have partnered with Birds Caribbean, an NGO working across the whole Caribbean region to raise awareness about bird protection, promote scientific research and engage with local partners.
We have, so far, donated $8,000 USD to help fund the “Caribbean Birding Trail”, a project to train local guides, restore sites for visitors and demonstrate the economic benefits of birding for communities that live alongside threatened habitats and nature reserves. The money will be used to help run the next series of ranger trainings in Turks & Caicos.

Building an aviary for bird rehabilitation and rerelease in Mexico
In Mexico, we partnered with the Fundación TXORI, an NGO founded in 1986 with the aim of saving endangered bird species in Mexico. Through its sanctuary near to Guadalajara, the organisation focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation and re-release of birds often rescued from the illegal pet trade.
We have, so far, donated $8,000 USD to help to keep the birds healthy and happy during the COVID pandemic, to fund the construction of a series of new birdhouses and further research towards the organisation’s release programme.

Inspiring the next generation of birders in Costa Rica
In Central America we are working with La Asociación Ornitológica de Costa Rica, a non-profit founded in 1993 who focuses on the research and protection of birds and their habitats, alongside raising awareness nationally about Costa Rica’s incredible 915 bird species.
We will donate $8,000 USD to fund the organisation’s education programmes, purchasing materials such as books, bird guides and binoculars for workshops with young people. It will also go towards covering this year’s grant programme awarded to researchers in Costa Rica.
SHOP
All proceeds from the sale of Birdsong merchandising will go to fund the above projects.
